Since so many of our patients have resolved to lose weight this year, this newsletter focuses on why weight loss resolutions fail and steps to take to help ensure you reach your goals. If you have any questions, know that your support system here at EVEXIAS is ready to listen and provide the tools you need to succeed. Here’s to you!

Reason No. 1: The Quick Fix
(THE top reason weight loss resolutions fail)

If you want to lose weight for good this time, you probably need to change your approach to weight loss. So many people set off on weight loss journeys with unrealistic expectations. They’re looking for the quick fixx: “I want to lose 20 pounds in the next two months!”

However, for most people, weight gain occurs gradually, over years. People who lose weight too quickly, usually gain it back quickly, too. If you’re looking for a weight loss program that really works, we recommend this approach:

  • STEP 1: Identify the root cause of weight gain first.
You may have a health issue that led to weight gain or makes it difficult to lose weight. Our practitioners can help you find out.
  • STEP 2: Commit to changing your lifestyle – permanently.
Regaining your health has to be a lifestyle decision you choose to adopt for the long-term. It’s NOT a quick fix.
  • STEP 3: Set a realistic, healthy weight loss goal of two pounds/week.
Anything more than two pounds/week is likely to creep back on.

At EVEXIAS, our medical team specializes in helping patients meet their health and wellness goals. We’ll uncover the root cause of your weight gain and provide the tools and support you need to achieve wellness for life.

Reason No. 2: Toxicity
(toxic chemicals, toxic life)

Let’s talk Toxicity. Are you feeling a little sluggish after the holidays? Unhealthy levels of toxins in your body may be to blame. Not only are billions of pounds

of toxic chemicals released into the environment each year, an unhealthy diet lacking in nutrients – too many holiday treats and glasses of wine – may exacerbate the problem.

Left unchecked, a build up of toxins in the body may slow metabolism, and physical and mental fatigue might set in.

Toxic people, relationships, jobs and thoughts won’t help you achieve a balanced life either. These toxic emotions exacerbate stress, which elevates cortisol levels in the body. Worse? High cortisol levels lead to increased belly fat, which is nearly impossible to lose.

The solution? Eliminate physical and emotional toxins

  • STEP 1: Start with a simple detox.
Detoxing doesn’t need to be complicated. A good rst step is to eliminate sugar and processed foods from your life. You’ll be amazed at what a difference this simple change makes.
  • STEP 2: Clean out your pantry – and your life.
Throw out any sugary or processed foods you have in your home. While you’re at it, put an end to any toxic relationships or thoughts that are holding you back. Evidence supports thoughts ARE things and have a powerful impact on your emotional and physical health.
  • STEP 3: Detox with the Clear ChangeTM
Detoxication Program. Clear Change, is an easy-to follow, science-based, detoxication program that enhances the body’s natural metabolic detoxication process and provides fuel for cleansing and other daily activities. Depending on your individual needs, your practitioner may recommend either a 10-day or 28-day program.

If you need help detoxifying your body and your life, reach out to your practitioner for guidance.

Reason No. 3: Hormone Imbalance

Want to find peace and balance in the New Year and beyond? Tired of feeling sluggish and worn down? Balancing your hormones – thyroid, testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, cortisol and others – is a good first place to start.

Why? Hormone imbalance may lead to serious health issues. Even a small fluctuation in hormones might wreak havoc on physical and emotional well-being. Plus, credible research has tied hormone imbalance to diseases including cancer, thyroid malfunction, stroke, osteoporosis and more.

There are a myriad of reasons that hormones become imbalanced, but the two main culprits are:

  • Age. Over time, the glands that produce hormones decrease functioning. The solution? Depending on which hormones are out of balance, you may need bio-identical hormone replacement pellet therapy, thyroid optimization, progesterone optimization, nutritional supplements or other forms of treatment.
  • Toxins. When toxins build up in the body, hormone receptors may become weak. The solution? Detox the body so hormone receptors work properly again.

We can help you find balance in the New Year. After performing a few simple blood tests, our experienced practitioners will formulate a treatment program that addresses your specific needs.

Reason No. 4: Leaky Gut

What do stress, pain, IBS and belly fat have in common? Leaky gut. It’s worth learning more about this condition and the treatments available, because it causes a whole host of health problems.

Leaky gut is tied to aging, stress, infections, as well as certain foods and toxins you consume. If leaks occur in the intestinal lining – i.e., your gut is leaky – toxins, microbes or undigested food particles can travel into the bloodstream. The immune system marks these “foreign invaders” as pathogens and attacks them, which causes them to present in the form of an immune response.

Nine signs you may have leaky gut. You may be suffering from leaky gut if you have any of the following symptoms or conditions:

  • Digestive issues such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
  • Seasonal allergies or asthma.
  • Hormone imbalances such as PMS or PCOS.
  • Diagnosis of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, lupus, psoriasis or celiac disease.
  • Diagnosis of chronic fatigue or bromyalgia.
  • Depression, anxiety, ADD or ADHD.
  • Skin issues or hair loss.
  • Diagnosis of candida overgrowth.
  • Food allergies or intolerances.

We treat leaky gut and other health conditions, by finding the root cause. Leaky gut may – or may not – be causing any of the conditions you are experiencing from the list above. At EVEXIAS, our practitioners will perform tests to determine what is causing your ill health and develop a treatment program to help you heal.

Reason No. 5: Sleep Deprivation

Finding out why you can’t sleep is the key to good health. Weight gain, toxicity, hormone imbalance and leaky gut may all play a role in sleep deprivation. The funny thing is that it goes both ways. Not only can these issues contribute to sleep deprivation, lack of sleep may make all of these conditions worse.

To regain health, resolve to take steps to overcome the vicious cycle of sleep deprivation and disease. Instead of reaching for a sleeping pill, it’s important to uncover the root cause of your sleepless nights first.

Unlike traditional healthcare providers, who prescribe band-aids (like sleeping pills) to treat symptoms, our practitioners perform tests to find out WHY you can’t sleep and prescribe a solution to fix that problem.
