Cooler temperatures are rolling in and holiday lights are going up, but the battle for healthy skin is just beginning. We know skin care has no one-size-fits-all approach, but that also means your skincare routine should adapt to the seasons.
Fall is the best time to start repairing any skin damage caused by the harsh summer sun as well as to build up a strong defense plan against pending cold weather.
When the weather gets colder, humidity levels drop, and as a result, our skin loses moisture and can begin to chap, flake, crack and appear blotchy and red.
Moving between the rough winter winds outside and high indoor heating will do our skin no favors. Take matters into your own hands this winter season to keep your skin fresh and healthy.
1. SPF Every Day
The biggest favor you can ever do for your skin is to wear sunscreen (at least SPF 30) every single day. Just because you’re not lying on the beach or it’s cloudy and cold doesn’t mean the sun isn’t affecting us.
Apply your sunscreen to your face, hands, and neck (when exposed) 30 minutes before going outside and be sure to reapply if you stay outside for a prolonged period.
2. Exfoliate
Moisture can’t get back into our skin if we have layers of dead skin cells keeping it out. Use a loofah, body brush, exfoliating body wash, etc. regularly, but not every day.
Using exfoliating face masks, hand treatments, or lip scrubs are also good steps to take. Be sure to pay attention to how your skin reacts and don’t overdo anything.
3. Customize Your Treatment Plan
If you want to understand your skin, consult a professional. The aestheticians and physicians at EVEXIAS Medical Centers are licensed to use prescription strength formulas such as the products found in these professional skincare lines:
