What if we told you there was a tool that could revive dull skin, boost collagen, improve the look of scars, and it was minimally invasive? Lucky for you, at EVEXIAS, we have a treatment that can do all of the above and more!

Microneedling isn’t a new treatment, but it has been regaining popularity in recent years. This minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment boasts quick recovery time and was designed to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production.

People everywhere are opting for microneedling rather than chemical peels or laser treatments. If you’re nervous about trying one of those treatments, microneedling may be a good place to start!

What is Microneedling?

As we explained above, microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, uses a tool that has tiny needles to make small pricks in the top layer of the skin.

The needles are micro-fine, and range in diameter from 0.5 and 2.5 millimeters, and tools include a dermapen or dermaroller.

Why Choose Microneedling?

This treatment is known for boosting collagen production, which makes it ideal for a variety of skin concerns (like fine lines and wrinkles).

As you may know, collagen is the protein that can help give our skin strength and elasticity on top of replacing dead skin cells. Collagen production naturally declines as we get older leading to many unwanted effects like wrinkles and sagging skin.

Our certified technicians perform Microneedling as it creates microscopic punctures in your skin. While some people choose to try this at home, we believe it is safer in a controlled environment.

What Happens with Microneedling?

Your skin rejuvenation expert will use the microneedling tool on your target areas, and these controlled injuries will signal your skin to begin repair mode.

This mode triggers the body to produce new collagen as well as elastin and can even encourage growth of fibroblasts, epithelial and endothelial cells, which can create to a more even skin tone and a healthy glow.

Essentially, microneedling is engaging our skin’s natural ability to renew itself and can cause scars and fine lines to look smaller and our skin to appear more refreshed!

When done by a professional, the process can take between 20 and 30 minutes. These microneedles aren’t harmful when appropriately used, but may cause minimal pain. Some redness in the days after treatment is normal, and many patients start seeing results in 72 hours or less!

Is There Any Downtime?

Microneedling doesn’t require downtime, but proper aftercare and precautions are advised. You should keep your skin well hydrated with non-comedogenic products. You should also avoid all harsh and abrasive products until your skin is fully recovered.

We also recommend staying away from the gym, sauna, and direct sunlight for the first 24 hours after treatment as sweating can increase inflammation.

While every patient will have unique needs and goals, most require 4-6 microneedling sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. After we complete these sessions, most patients only require one maintenance treatment in six months to a year.

Who Needs Microneedling?

Microneedling is a safe treatment that most people are good candidates for. However, it is an ideal treatment for patients looking to improve acne and other types of scarring, or those with skin conditions that prevent them from being eligible for other forms of skin rejuvenation.

Common conditions treated by microneedling include:

  • Acne scars
  • Surgical scars
  • Chickenpox scars
  • Stretch Marks
  • Wrinkles
  • Upper lip lines
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Sun damaged skin
  • Large pores
  • Uneven skin texture

Patients will experience:

  • An improvement in skin tone
  • Tightening of the skin

  • Used Accutane in the last three months
  • Have open wounds, cuts or abrasions on the skin
